On average 185,000 people per year complete RYA training courses at our 2220 affiliated Training Centres in 20 countries. Marine Leisure Association The Marine Leisure Association (MLA) is the only Trade Association for Training, Charter and Holidays in the UK and has representation on various National Committees to safeguard Members’ interests and the general public. We are recognised by the Government, MCA, RYA and other agencies as the “National Body”. We are a Group Association within the BMF (British Marine Federation) and represent our Members’ views within the BMF Council. MLA member companies offer better protection for the general public and higher standards within the marine industry. Our exclusively recognised Code of Conduct, which all members must adhere to, guarantees customer confidence and assurance. Every member must also comply to current legislation, especially with regards to the Package Travel Holiday and Package Tour Regulations 1992, using appropriate bonding, insurance or trust fund arrangements. All companies have been operating in business for over 12 months and Training Members have also been RYA Recognised for this duration prior to joining. All MLA Training companies offer fully MCA/RYA Coded and equipped vessels together with expert tuition for a comprehensive range of professionally organised courses for sail cruising, motor cruising, dinghy, powerboating, windsurfing, shorebased theory, distant learning theory and own boat tuition leading to internationally recognised RYA and MCA qualifications. Tuition by qualified experts offering a careful blend of serious instruction with fun. Training Centres use the latest technology combined with traditional skills to help students achieve their aims. All MLA Charter and Holiday companies provide a wide variety of vessels in the world’s best cruising areas, with watersports activities available at many locations. All British registered yachts comply with the MCA Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels and foreign flagged yachts comply with the regulations of the country with which they are registered. British Marine Federation The British Marine Federation is the trade association for the British boating industry. The Federation's 1,500 Members account for a substantial amount of the industry's turnover and employ around 30,000 people. They are drawn from both the seagoing and inland sectors of the marine industry covering the leisure boat, hire fleet, commercial workboat and superyacht categories and supporting services. Our Mission Statement reads as follows: We will create, develop and maintain high quality services, benefits and commercial activities to promote our industry and its products and work with our members to achieve profitable growth in home and overseas markets.
