Earls Court Boat Show
30th November – 9th December 2007 |
After the phenomenal success of the Southampton Boat Show, Alfer is going to be exhibiting at the Earls Court Boat Show from the 29th November - 9th December 2007. This is the first time since the show moved to Excel, that many of us will have visited Earls court. So it should be pleasantly nostalgic experience as well as a great show.
We will be exhibiting once more in partnership with the widely acclaimed National Marine Correspondence School on stand 1J46. As always we will be virtually giving away various weeks for charter and courses in our Boat Show Deals. We also look forward to seeing all our old sailing mates who can spare the time to come by for a visit.

| Yachtmaster Week - 16th to 22nd December |
We are running our last RYA Yachtmaster practical preparation and examination of the year in December.
Starting on the 16th December 2007, we will prepare you through familiarisation of the yacht and the area over 4 intensive days. The examination will then take place over the 21st / 22nd December. In order for you to take part in the examination you must already hold at least 2 500 nm’s, 5 passages of over 60 nm’s (2 of which you skippered and 2 over night) as well as a VHF and First Aid certificate.
The cost for the preparation is 590 GBP, and we limit the number of students to four to ensure the best possible instructor/student ratio. The exam fee and flights are not included, everything else is! For more information please contact us. |
Alfer Adventure 10th to 25th November

Warmed by the Gulf Stream and cooled by Atlantic breezes, the Canary Islands - Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, La Palma, Fuerteventura, La Gomera and El Hierro - have a near-perfect climate all year round. Whether or not they are the classical Fortunate Isles, they are an ideal destination to escape from the chills of the British winter.
An ideal opportunity to build miles and gain experience of long distance passage making. This leg is suitable for those wanting to achieve their Coastal Skipper (Tidal) Practical Certificate or equivalent experience. We anticipate a non stop passage to the Canary Islands to take a maximum of 6 days, allowing time before our return journey to explore inland on one of the islands. All meals are included except for evening meals once we arrive in the Canary Islands.
A potentially challenging experience, against the prevailing winds and current make the satisfaction of achievement all the greater. Singles and couples welcome, no experience necessary – but a sense of adventure vital! ... for more info |

| Gibraltar International Regatta |
International novices rule the waves (Sur - August 6th 2004)
After three days's training, six sailors beat professionals in Open Class.
Six novice sailors, most with no sailing experience at all, were entered in the VIII Gibraltar International Regatta in July after only three days' training with Alfer Sea School and came out in first and third places overall. They had beaten professional crews and IMS-rated yachts in the Open Class.
Sunstar, skippered by Fergus Anderson and crewed by Malcolm Martin, Lois Cruz, Alfred Victory, Aurelio Pincho, Adrian Martin, Steve Wilde and Fabian Rocca, was placed 1st Overall having ranked 2nd on the Saturday and winning the Open Class on the Sunday of the weekends' racing.
Firestar of Hamble, skippered by Alan Robinson and crewed by John Harrison, David Whitmore, J 'Woody' Woodward, Caroline Harrison, Jane Edwards, Polly Whitmore, Lorien Houghton and Marc Hutt, was placed third on both days, giving the yacht an overall 3rd place. |
